The Chiefs have other priorities in terms of positional needs. They will try to fill the void created by cornerback L'Jarius Sneed first but more depth at safety remains on their long list of needs. They still have Justin Reid and Bryan Cook but they will likely pick up another safety as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo likes to deploy a three-man rotation at safety.

Additionally, the Chiefs now have more cap space following the Sneed trade, as well as an additional Day 2 pick they acquired from the Titans. This could mean that they might be willing to part ways with at least a fourth-round pick for Dugger.

The main obstacle in front of such a deal is the fact that the Chiefs would have to give Dugger a contract extension after acquiring him. Kansas City is already an expensive team with plenty of veterans on lucrative long-term deals. Would they want to limit their financial flexibility going forward by offering a multiyear deal to a 28-year-old safety who is not a clear-cut Pro Bowl-caliber defender?

If they thought he was an obvious upgrade over their starting safeties, then maybe. However, they could probably find someone cheaper as a depth option and deal with their safety needs next offseason when Reid's contract expires.
