3 Worst Patriots From Embarrassing Week 3 Loss to Jets
By Ryan Bunton
1. Caedan Wallace
Wallace, making his first start at left tackle since high school, was admittedly thrust into a tough position. Offseason signing Chukwuma Okorafor was projected to be the starting left tackle, but he was benched after only 12 snaps in the season opener before flatout deciding that he might not want to play football again and leaving the team. Okorafor was replaced by Vederian Lowe, who missed Thursday night's contest after injuring his knee in Week 2 against Seattle.
Wallace was penalized for failing to report as an eligible receiver in overtime of New England's Week 2 loss, and he picked up right where he left off on Thursday. The rookie was flagged three times on Thursday, first for an illegal formation call in the first quarter. Wallace was also called for holding on back-to-back third down plays in the third quarter, one of which nullified an Austin Hooper catch that would have put the Patriots at the New York two-yard line and a shot at their only touchdown of the night.
Jacoby Brissett spent much of the night on the MetLife Stadium turf, with Wallace and the rest of the offensive line struggling immensely against the Jets pass rush.
Like the other players on this list, Wallace was placed in an admittedly tough position, being asked to start at a relatively unfamiliar position due to the injury bug that has hit the Patriots. Still, it was a first career start that he would surely like to have back.
