Entire Offensive Line

Maybe this is cheating for the purposes of this exercise, but it was hard to single out any offensive lineman. The performance of this entire offensive line was a disaster, except for right tackle Mike Onwenu. Brissett had no time in the pocket, constantly feeling pressure and getting hit. Every single member of the offensive line was credited with an allowed QB pressure.

In all fairness, the Patriots offensive line has been depleted with injuries. In addition to Cole Strange and Chukwuma Okorafor who will be out for the foreseeable future, the Patriots were missing Sidy Sow and Vederian Lowe.

This meant that the third-round draft pick Caedan Wallace started at left tackle and fellow rookie Layden Robinson got the start at right guard, while Michael Jordan was elevated from the practice squad to start at left guard. This is far from the ideal offensive line for the Patriots.

At the same time, you can still expect more from this unit. But, we are not going to blame them much more than the name below.

Eliot Wolf

Here is the actual reason Jacoby Brissett took a hit after hit all evening. He is also the reason why Drake Maye isn't starting. Imagine a football team that can't start its better quarterback and the future of its franchise because it doesn't have a competent offensive line.

The frustrating part of all of this is the fact that everybody knew about this problem. The entire offseason was dominated by the Patriots' need to upgrade the offensive line. Yet in a Week 3 matchup, the Patriots start three offensive linemen playing out of position.

Yes, this is a developmental season and the results don't matter. At the same time, you still need to create an ecosystem where players can develop. If you can't build a team where you feel comfortable enough to put your No. 3 overall pick out there, you have failed to do that. And that is on Eliot Wolf, the man who built this roster.
