4 Patriots Who Will Be Traded by the End of October
2. K.J. Osborn, WR
Bourne isn't the only wide receiver who the Patriots might move by Nov. 5.
Veteran pass-catcher K.J. Osborn is also a trade candidate after signing a one-year contract with the franchise this summer. The ex-2020 fifth-round selection showed promise with three consecutive 500-yard seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, leaving optimistic Patriots fans hoping that he could make a similar impact in New England.
Much to their disappointment, Osborn has been largely invisible to begin the 2024 NFL season.
Even though he's played 69% of offensive snaps, you wouldn't know it. Osborn has caught only 5-of-13 targets (30.8%) for 31 receiving yards and one first down. Not only has he dropped 7.7% of opportunities, but he's also yielded a 46.6 passer rating when targeted. For reference, only three of 33 eligible quarterbacks this season have a rating worse than that.
Based on how New England's offense looks — from the quarterback play to the offensive line — it's hard to imagine Osborn turning things around unless he turns into the second coming of Randy Moss. With that in mind, the Patriots may as well try to trade him for something if they don't plan on re-signing him in March.
