4 Patriots Who Will Be Traded by the End of October
4. Jonathan Jones, CB
Veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones has been a mainstay on the Patriots' defense for nearly a decade. The 31-year-old defender has played 119 games since moving to New England as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and has gone on to tally 397 tackles, 11 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, and two Super Bowl rings with the franchise.
However, Jones's time with the Patriots could be nearing an end.
As a pending unrestricted free agent, Jones could be a popular trade deadline target for any playoff contenders. Even if he's no longer as young as he once was, the ex-Auburn Tiger still has 13 solo tackles, a forced fumble, and a 71.6 PFF coverage grade through four games. Let's also not forget that it was just in 2022 when he amassed a personal-best four INTs.
ESPN's Dan Graziano listed several teams that could be interested in acquiring Jones, including the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens. In other words, the Patriots shouldn't struggle to find suitors if they make the ninth-year CB available.
Jones' time with the Patriots has produced plenty of great memories, but all good things come to an end eventually. If he hopes to add a third Super Bowl to his collection before he retires, he might have to head elsewhere to accomplish that goal — potentially as early as this month.
