2. Rodney Harrison

Harrison, a finalist in 2024, is closer than ever to a Hall of Fame nod. He has had to wait his turn, as 2025 will mark his 12th year of eligibility. Harrison was also a semifinalist in 2021 and 2023.

Some of those who worked closely with Harrison – Scott Pioli and Belichick – have been fervent advocates for Harrison's selection to Canton.

Belichick made his pitch for Harrison last December:

"Best safety I've coached. And there's a couple of other ones that I've coached that are in the Hall of Fame. Fantastic player, person, great competitor, could do it all. One of the most versatile players I've ever coached. I think he definitely deserves [Hall of Fame enshrinement]. This guy's a great football player and a great teammate...He’s just a heck of a football player. He’s one of the best I’ve ever coached. I mean, he’d certainly be on my all-time team without question. Behind [Lawrence] Taylor, but he’d certainly be right up there. A tremendous player."

Although Harrison didn't receive much recognition during his playing days (only three All-Pro and two Pro Bowl nods), he was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2019. He was also tabbed to New England's 50th Anniversary Team, All-2000s Team, and All-Dynasty Team. He was also named to the San Diego Chargers 50th Anniversary Team.

Harrison spent the first nine years of his career in San Diego before New England scooped him up in 2003. He would win two Super Bowls with the Patriots, including a game-clinching interception of Donovan McNabb in the final minute of Super Bowl XXXIX. Harrison retired following the 2008 season.

Harrison played a unique brand of football, as he is one of only two players in NFL history with 30 sacks and 30 interceptions. The other? Hall of Famer Ray Lewis.

After finishing as a finalist in 2024, Harrison could be poised for a breakthrough and earn his long-awaited selection in 2025.
