4. Kyle Dugger

Another Patriot that could be a sought-after free agent, Dugger turned heads when New England selected him at 37th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne. Despite some initial skepticism, the safety has more than proven himself and gained the trust of the Patriots' defensive coaching staff, taking the field for the most defensive snaps of any New England player this season.

Dugger played an astounding 98 percent of New England's defensive snaps in 2023, including a perfect 100 percent in 14 of their 17 games. The safety's playing time was well earned, as he recorded 108 tackles and led the team in solo tackles. He also picked off two passes and recovered a fumble.

The Patriots employed Dugger and Jabrill Peppers in hybrid safety/linebacker roles, which both players flourished in. Dugger "fits in the run game as good as any defensive back in football" and the partnership between him and Peppers was a key reason why New England was the NFL's best defense in yards per rush.

Dugger should be a priority for New England to re-sign this offseason, but the Patriots will retain the right to franchise tag the 27 year old. The expectation is that the team will do exactly that, per Pro Football Focus.
