5 Patriots Midseason Award Winners
Patriots MVP: Trent Brown
Although a team's MVP is usually their quarterback, Mac Jones has done anything but deserve that honor in 2023. Instead, I'm turning to the offensive line to give the award to Trent Brown.
Brown has, easily, been the Patriots' best offensive lineman, graded the highest when it comes to both pass (75.2) and run (81.6) blocking. Even more impressive is that his 81.4 overall PFF grade is not only 12.3 points better than the next New England blocker (David Andrews), but it also ranks sixth-best among 77 tackles league-wide.
Brown has also been one of the few O-linemen to actually provide Jones with protection. After all, he's allowed the fewest pressures (12) and hurries (5) among the Patriots' starting blockers.
Again, giving the MVP award to Brown isn't the sexiest decision, but the fact remains that the Patriots' offense would be much worse off if he wasn't around. That alone makes him deserving of this award.
