5 Patriots Who Deserve Most Blame for Week 5 Collapse
By Ryan Bunton
4. Hunter Henry
Henry has been one of the best performers on the Patriots offense over the past two seasons and is a team captain, but he was largely missing on Sunday despite being a focal point of this offense in prior weeks.
Henry finished with two catches for 32 yards, but second catch of 25 yards would prove to be the final play of the game as he caught the pass in the field of play and New England was unable to stop the clock with no timeouts. Henry's statline essentially washes out to one catch for seven yards. After racking up eight catches for 109 yards in Week 2, his production hasn't really been there.
Henry was also flagged twice on New England's late fourth-quarter drive. First, he was called for an illegal formation penalty just north of the two-minute warning, but the Patriots were able to work around it before Henry committed another crucial penalty later in the drive.
With a minute remaining, the Patriots lined up for a deciding fourth-and-10 from the Miami 12-yard line. With the game on the line, Henry flinched and was flagged for a false start, pushing New England back to the Miami 17-yard line for a low percentage fourth-and-15. Brissett was unable to connect with Henry on fourth down and Miami regained possession with 55 seconds remaining.
Although the Patriots did ultimately get the ball back with 29 seconds remaining, their fourth down try from deep in Miami territory was New England's last real chance to win the game.
