5. Marco Wilson, CB

Marco Wilson is the younger brother of Quincy Wilson, who was a second-round pick out of Florida in 2017. The younger Wilson also attended Florida and was taken in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. While his older brother is now in the XFL, Marco is set to enter his fifth season in the league.

Originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, Wilson was a starter for the better part of his first three seasons. He had a strong sophomore campaign which included racking up 58 tackles, 10 pass defenses, and three interceptions.

During his third season, however, Wilson began to struggle. The Cardinals tried to allow him to play through it but after 15 games, with 11 starts, he was waived. The Patriots decided to claim him and add some much-needed depth to the secondary. Wilson played in just one game for New England and looking ahead to 2024, it's hard to see a role for him.

Jonathan Jones is starting on one side and Christian Gonzalez will be across from him after missing much of his rookie campaign following a dislocated shoulder. They also have Shaun Wade, Alex Austin, Isaiah Bolden, and rookie Marcellas Dial, Jr. who could wind up ahead of Wilson on the depth chart.

The Patriots defense as a whole needs to perform better and perhaps they believe someone with Wilson's experience could push those ahead of him. There's also just as of a chance that he doesn't make it to the roster in Week 1.
