Bailey Zappe’s Pats Days Appear Numbered After Latest Update
The New England Patriots have a new nucleus of players they are looking to build around. The shift happened over the course of the offseason and certain players are falling down the depth chart.
Their first practice took place on July 24 in Foxborough but things are already looking shaky for Bailey Zappe.
Patriots News: Bailey Zappe Is Seemingly Demoted
Zappe has had an interesting career in New England thus far but on July 25 things took another bad turn for him.
Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, Zappe was the No. 4 quarterback on the depth chart behind Jacoby Brissett, Drake Maye, and Joe Milton.
It's not shocking that he was behind Brissett and Maye but for him to get snaps behind Milton isn't a good sign for him.
Milton was just selected this past April in the sixth round. The former Tennessee standout is a project but he has all the physical tools you would want in a quarterback. It seems like he's won over some of his coaches and has overtook Zappe.
Zappe has been with the Pats for the last two seasons. He was nabbed in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and had some good moments with New England but hasn't proved enough. The Western Kentucky product has completed 63% of his passes for 2,053 passing yards with 11 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions in two seasons. He also went 5-12 as a starter.
The 25-year-old can still be a capable backup signal caller in the league but it appears his time in New England is coming to an end.
