Bill Belichick Announces Departure of Patriots Coach
By Joe Summers
We knew shakeups were coming for the Patriots' organization with how this season has gone, and Bill Belichick has officially announced the departure of assistant Ross Douglas.
It was reported Douglas would join Syracuse as the school's WR coach and now, the move is official. Belichick told the team in a meeting on Monday that Douglas was leaving for a "coordinator-type" role, while Troy Brown will continue coaching the WRs in his stead.

Patriots Coach Ross Douglas Leaving for Syracuse Role
Douglas joined the Patriots in 2020, starting his tenure as a quality control assistant on defense. Once several assistant coaches left to join Josh McDaniels in Las Vegas, he became the WR coach in 2022.
This is the first domino in what could be a long line this offseason. The Patriots sit at 3-10, likely to draw a top-five draft pick, with one of the league's worst offenses.
Massive changes are being debated in the building and Douglas took an opportunity to join a rising program in a similar role.
It remains to be seen if further coaching changes are made, but it almost feels like a matter of when, not if. New England takes on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. While the Chiefs are vulnerable, they're among the biggest favorites of the week.
For now, the Patriots will charge on without Douglas as he prepares for his new role.
