The New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick appear to be at a standstill right now. However, with the NFL's head-coaching carousel now in full swing, many expect a resolution here in the coming days.

Belichick could of course stay, but perhaps in a different role, as he's stated he'd relinquish general manager duties to remain in New England.

The 71-year-old could also split from the Pats, either by firing or trade if the organization pursues one. Should this scenario play out, the odds for Belichick's next team shed some intriguing insight on where he could land.

Bill Belichick Next Team Odds

DraftKings Sportsbook has released a market surrounding where Belichick will spend the 2024 season. The leading favorite is one surprise, with the Los Angeles Chargers checking in as the most likely option at +200. Meanwhile, the Pats stand strong in second at +300 odds.

The Atlanta Falcons have the next-best chances of landing the six-time Super Bowl winner (+500), followed by the Washington Commanders (+600). Notably, Belichick not serving as head coach of an NFL team -- which would likely entail either a sabbatical, demotion to coordinator, or move to the college ranks -- cracks the top five results at +700.

There's quite a bit to unpack here. Los Angeles has shown it's hungry to hire a top name this offseason, though the organization has been more frequently linked to Michigan's Jim Harbaugh than Belichick to this point. The fact oddsmakers think Belichick will most likely coach the Chargers hints at a possible changing of the tides on the horizon.

It's also a bit shocking to see the Patriots so high here. A clean break appears sorely needed in New England to establish the current version of the Patriot Way, instead of running it back with a coach who seems to have lost his touch. Perhaps Belichick being open to having a GM running the show above him, though, could keep him around.

The Falcons and Commanders are curious landing spots as well. Atlanta needs a coach that can spearhead an offense with a ton of talented playmakers on board, but it's unclear if Belichick is still capable of doing that. Washington could be an ideal fit, as Belichick would surely be allowed to imprint his style of football on a team that desperately needs a leader.
