The New England Patriots have experienced a lot of overturn this offseason. They have had a losing campaign in three of the last four years so they decided it was time to make some changes.

Back in January, they fired Bill Belichick after 24 seasons as the head coach. After Tom Brady left town, they struggled to maintain success outside of that one year in 2021.

New England handed over the head coaching reigns to Jerod Mayo before they made Eliot Wolf the general manager.

Mayo has been the lead man for five months now but he revealed some interesting nuggets on Belichick.

Pats News: Bill Belichick and Jerod Mayo Haven’t Spoke Much

Up and Adams hosted by Kay Adams was present at Pats practice on July 29. There she asked Mayo has the legendary coach reached out since he landed the job but his answer was quite telling.

"So, that's a tough question. We haven't had a lot of communication since I've been here. And honestly, for me, my focus is the players. It's all about the players. I learned a lot from Bill, I honestly did, you know, X's and O's and also structuring practice and things like that. But like I said, it's a different time. It's a different era and hopefully we can have some of that same success."

Jerod Mayo

It's a bit strange that Belichick hasn't reached out to Mayo. The 38-year-old coach was selected in the first round by the New England and played for the Pats from 2008-2015. He then became an inside linebackers coach from 2019-2023 with the team. That's a total of 13 seasons under Belichick so why wouldn't he reach out to Mayo more?

Particularly since he's heading into his first year as a coach. That makes me believe that he's still annoyed or upset that the organization moved on from him.

He sits 14 wins away from surpassing Don Shula as the head coach with the most all-time wins.

Since he was passed over for every coaching opening, he'll have to wait until 2025 to potentially get back on the sidelines. That may be why he seems salty with the Pats.
