Bill Belichick Still Sounds Salty After Getting Rejected for Head Coaching Gig
The New England Patriots entered a new era this offseason. They parted ways with Bill Belichick and handed over the keys to Jerod Mayo.
The Patriots are rebuilding but are playing hard to start the season. They are 1-1 heading into a Week 3 tilt against the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.
While that is happening, Bill Belichick isn't coaching in the NFL, but instead, he's working in media. Despite talking about the NFL on a national stage, the former coach still appears to be salty after not landing a job with the Atlanta Falcons.
NFL News: Bill Belichick Throws Shot at the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football
Belichick made his appearance on the "ManningCast" and threw some shade at the Falcons when receiver Darnell Mooney made his first reception of the game.
"One of those three free agents they signed illegally—Mooney, Woerner and of course Cousins—that they contacted early, got fined for it, lost a draft choice and all that."

Back in June, the Falcons were fined $250,000 for violating the NFL's anti-tampering policy for "improper contact" with quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end Charlie Woerner, and Mooney.
Belichick's comments appear to come from a place of annoyance. During the offseason, Belichick interviewed with the Falcons and thought the job was his for the taking but instead, Atlanta went in a different direction.
They decided to hire Raheem Morris, and that caught Belichick by surprise. It's something that still bothers him and his statement on Monday showcases that.
He even took a shot at Atlanta owner Arthur Blank for prematurely celebrating when Atlanta was up 28-3 over New England in Super Bowl LI.
The 72-year-old has made it known that he wants to get back on the sidelines as a head coach and his statements on Monday Night Football highlight he hasn't forgotten what Atlanta did a few months back.
