Celtics Must Sign 5-Time All-Star Eyeing NBA Return
If the Celtics have their eye on another deep postseason run, adding a proven All-Star like John Wall would go a long way to helping achieve that goal.
It's business as usual for the Boston Celtics, who are off to an impressive 8-2 start to the 2023-24 NBA season. This solid 10-game stretch has cemented the C's as the team to beat in the Association, highlighted by their being the NBA Finals favorite across the majority of sportsbooks.
But just because the Celtics are flying doesn't mean that everything is perfect. A lack of offensive production from Boston's bench has been one of the team's glaring issues, leaving general manager Brad Stevens looking for potential external solutions.
The good news is that Stevens won't have to look too hard for help following the latest news surrounding a top available free agent.
Celtics Roster Rumors
Five-time NBA All-Star John Wall has his sights set on a potential return to the league, per BasketNews. The 33-year-old point guard revealed his intentions during a trip to Australia where he's checking out the NBL's South East Melbourne Phoenix — a team that he co-owns.
Wall added that his love for the grind that comes with the NBA is one key reason as to why he's still chasing his dream.

Wall credits his patience to helping him to be "ready whenever your name is called." If an NBA comeback doesn't come to fruition, the plan is for him to potentially play some games with the Phoenix, who already have a jersey prepared for their co-owner.
Having said that, there's no reason why the Celtics shouldn't give Wall a chance to continue living his dream. With our bench averaging the second-fewest points and 10th-fewest assists in the NBA, taking a swing on the veteran facilitator is a low-risk, high-reward situation.
After all, Wall proved that he could still contribute off the Los Angeles Clippers' bench in 2022-23. The Raleigh, NC native came off the bench in 31 of 34 games with the Clippers, averaging 25.0 points and 11.5 assists per 100 possessions — neither of which were too far off from his career averages of 26.9 and 12.7, respectively.
While he's no longer close to being his All-NBA self, it's clear that Wall would provide a boost to a Boston bench where Sam Hauser (9.6 PPG) is the only player averaging more than 4.9 points.
