Christian Gonzalez Teases Jersey Number Change For 2024 Season
Cornerback Christian Gonzalez is heading into his second year in the NFL with the New England Patriots in 2024. The 21-year-old was the 17th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and made an immediate impact.
Gonzalez (6'2) is an extremely athletic playmaker on the backend who has the instinct to make a play on the ball. In four games during the 2023 season, he finished with 17 total tackles, three pass deflections, one sack, and one interception. He also had an 80.8 overall grade according to PFF.
Unfortunately, his season was cut short when he suffered a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
As we head towards next season, Gonzalez could look at switching his jersey number. He posted on his Instagram story rocking No. 0 in an Oregon uniform and dropped a winking emoji in the corner.
Gonzalez wore No. 0 during his college days and could be looking to bring that back to the next level.
As a rookie, he wore No. 6 but maybe that wasn't his go-to choice.
During the 2022 season with the Ducks, Gonzalez finished with 50 total tackles, seven pass deflections, and snagged four interceptions wearing that number zero.
Who knows if he will actually switch numbers but he clearly shows that he performs well rocking that zero.
