As we approach the offseason, rumors will begin swirling left and right. Teams are looking to improve their roster as they roll into the 2024 campaign.

The New England Patriots are coming off a 4-13 record in 2023, its worst mark since 2000. The Patriots now own the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

New England can go in many different directions with this pick but it will most likely be used on an offensive player. The Patriots need plenty of help on that side of the ball. In 2023, they were 30th in total offense (276.2), 28th in passing offense (180.5), and tied for last in scoring (13.9).

These are putrid numbers for an offense and make it extremely difficult to win games.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Minnesota Vikings are a team that people around the NFL are "keeping an eye on" prior to the NFL Draft. They have reportedly done homework on the quarterbacks in this class and could be looking to move up.

After hearing that, Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd suggested a trade between New England and Minnesota.

Cowherd's trade offer was the Patriots trading the No. 3 overall pick to the Vikings for Justin Jefferson, the No. 11 overall pick, and a 2025 first-rounder.

The Patriots badly need a No. 1 playmaker on the outside and Jefferson is one the best receivers in the league. Across four seasons, the LSU product has reeled in 392 receptions for 5,899 receiving yards, and 30 touchdowns.

New England hasn't had a receiver go over 1,000 yards since Julian Edelman in 2019.

The Patriots wouldn't be able to select a potential franchise quarterback in this scenario but they would be acquiring one of the top difference-makers in the game.
