Demario Douglas Shares Surprise News Ahead of Season
By Jovan Alford
Demario Douglas was shockingly the Patriots’ best wide receiver last season and one of their best players on the team.
The 23-year-old receiver, who was drafted in the sixth round in the 2023 NFL draft, showed New England and the NFL world that he might’ve deserved to be picked earlier. The 5-foot-8 wideout had 49 receptions (79 targets) for a team-high 561 yards.
Even though Douglas didn’t score a single touchdown, he was one of the Pats’ most reliable offensive threats, which they needed at wide receiver with Juju Smith-Schuster and Kendrick Bourne dealing with injuries.
The young wide receiver took to social media to let Patriots fans know he’s switching from No. 81 to No. 3 next season. After a great rookie season, Douglas warrants a new number for the 2024 campaign.
Douglas wore No. 3 at Liberty and established himself as one of the more exciting players in college football. In his four-year collegiate career at Liberty, the 5-foot-8 receiver had 172 receptions for 2,193 yards and 16 touchdowns.
If the former Flames wide receiver can play how he did at Liberty this upcoming season with the Patriots, then New England might’ve found a potential star in the making.
