The New England Patriots shockingly parted ways with veteran defensive lineman Lawrence Guy earlier this year after he spent seven years with the organization.

The 34-year-old defensive tackle didn’t receive much interest in free agency, despite having a solid statistical 2023 season on an underwhelming Patriots’ team (38 combined tackles and a tackle for loss). However, he also posted a 45.5 grade on PFF last season, which isn’t great.

With the start of the 2024 season on the horizon, the former Pats lineman could be back on an NFL team’s roster very shortly.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Baltimore Ravens are hosting Guy for a visit and workout on Wednesday.

The veteran defensive lineman spent three years with the Ravens before he joined the Patriots in 2017. In Guy’s two-year stint with Baltimore, he had 74 combined tackles, 20 quarterback hits, 13 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks (43 games).

Guy’s best season with the Ravens happened in 2015 when he produced 46 combined tackles, 10 quarterback hits, eight tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. If the former Pats defensive lineman were to sign with the Ravens, he likely wouldn’t be a starter.

The Ravens are stacked on the defensive line, especially in the middle with Michael Pierce at nose tackle. However, Baltimore could use a quality backup behind him this season.

Patriots fans would’ve loved to see Guy stay in Foxboro as they usher in a new era of football under first-year head coach Jerod Mayo. But with the Pats going with a youth movement, Guy didn’t fit the team’s current plans.
