This past September, the USFL and XFL announced a new, merged spring league called the UFL. The league will feature eight teams in total and begins in March.

These squads are looking to make some meaningful additions before the start of the season. A former New England Patriot has been added to one of the rosters, as Matt Corral has signed with Birmingham Stallions.

Corral was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He joined the Patriots in 2023 before unexpectedly leaving the team in September. New England claimed Corral off waivers with plans to make him the No. 2 quarterback. Shortly after, he was placed exempt/left squad list for undisclosed reasons.

He ended up getting released but now has a chance to resurrect his career with the Stallions. Corral has always had the traits to be an effective signal caller. The 25-year-old has the athleticism to evade defenders with the arm talent to make a throw on all three levels.

Corral was lights out during his time at Ole Miss. From 2018-2021, the California native completed 67% of his throws for 8,297 yards and 57 passing touchdowns. He also added 334 rush attempts for 1,338 rushing yards and 18 rushing scores.

Now Corral is back in professional football and joins UFL defending champions, the Stallions. The 2024 campaign will begin on March 30 against the Arlington Renegades.

Corral never played in an NFL game but will now have the opportunity to showcase his raw ability.
