What a summer it's been for Jayson Tatum.

Cap off your first NBA championship run with a 31-point, 11-assist performance? Earn another call-up to play at the Olympics for Team USA? Sign the largest contract in league history? Sure, why not?

From the instant he became eligible for this contract, it was a formality. Tatum is one of the five best players in the NBA, a premier championship building block, and the face of the most storied franchise in NBA history. You don't haggle with players like that; you give them what they're worth, and you work from there.

The 26-year old NBA champion now has a record-setting deal that keeps him in Boston through 2029 (with a player option for 2030) and you'd have to imagine both sides couldn't have been happier to put pen to paper on this one. Yes, it's a lot of money, but the cap will only continue to rise; for now, all that matters is that Tatum's here to stay. Jayson loves Boston, and we love him back.
