Reigning NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown has long felt disrespected around the league and Team USA just threw a gasoline can into the fire, choosing guard Derrick White to replace Kawhi Leonard instead of Brown.

White enjoyed a phenomenal playoff run, establishing himself as one of the league's best role players while earning a massive contract extension for his efforts. However, Brown is the more accomplished Celtic and appears upset about being spurned once again.

He took to social media to share a cryptic tweet, seemingly expressing his displeasure.

Jaylen Brown Posts Cryptic Tweet After Team USA Snub

The two-time All-Star took his game to a new level in the playoffs, averaging 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 51.6% shooting while serving as perhaps Boston's best perimeter defender.

White, a defensive savant himself; averaged 16.9 points with 2.1 combined steals and blocks per contest on 40.4% shooting from beyond the arc. He's a worthy and deserving candidate to represent the United States at the Olympics, even though Brown's confusion is warranted.

Running mate Jayson Tatum is on the roster and Brown just beat him out for Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP. What exactly does Brown have to do to get the recognition he justifiably feels he deserves?

Despite the peculiar nature of the decision, Brown's tweet could be the first domino that derails the Celtics' chemistry. Instead of being happy for his often unheralded teammate, the veteran wing could be seen as focusing on himself and the perceived disrespect.

It's unlikely a simple social media post would cause some sort of internal conflict but Brown clearly still has a chip on his shoulder despite his accomplishments. Warranted or not, there's a perception issue that may need to be dealt with internally.

Regardless, this is an exciting honor for White. The only question is whether Brown's frustrations will seep into the locker room or if he'll use the slight as fuel going into next season.
