Jerod Mayo Made Aggressive Move After Patriots' Week 4 Loss

After their Week 4 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Pats head coach Jerod Mayo already had his team preparing for their next game against Miami.

The New England Patriots dropped their third-straight game on Sunday, losing 30-13 to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Patriots have notoriously struggled on both sides of the ball, giving up 25.6 points per game on defense and only scoring 12 points per contest during this three-game stretch. New England will try to get back into the win column in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins.

But before the Pats get back to practice this week, head coach Jerod Mayo put his team to work ahead of their matchup against the Dolphins.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, New England running back Antonio Gibson told reporters on Monday that after they arrived home at 4 a.m. ET they were back at the practice facility at 1 p.m. ET for mandatory running.

Gibson added that the off-day on Tuesday will be good for the players to rest and take care of their bodies before returning to practice on Wednesday.

Mayo’s approach might be a tad bit old school and puzzle the fan base, but it's clear he’s trying to establish his own culture within the organization. The team has shown signs of positive play throughout the first month of the regular season even though it only led to one win.

That said, the Patriots have a good chance to change the narrative about themselves against the Dolphins this week. Miami hasn’t played well without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which is great news for the Patriots’ defense.

However, the Patriots’ offense will need to do its job to protect Jacoby Brissett and run the ball with some success, so they won’t have to do mandatory running again.
