Jerod Mayo Gives Big Injury Updates on Two Key Veterans Ahead of Week 4
By Jovan Alford
The New England Patriots are preparing to go on the road this week as they will play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. New England is coming off a disappointing double-digit Week 3 loss at the hands of the New York Jets.
The Pats struggled on both sides of the ball, especially the offensive line as they allowed seven sacks and 15 quarterback hits. The offensive line has to be much better against a physical and tough 49ers defense.
On Monday, head coach Jerod Mayo gave an important injury update regarding the Pats’ o-line and a key playmaker.
Mayo told reporters that left guard Sidy Sow will practice Monday after being out late last month with an ankle injury. According to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, Sow was seen in the locker room not wearing his ankle brace, which he had on for the first couple of weeks after his injury.
In addition to Sow, the first-year head coach couldn't give an update on left tackle Vederian Lowe, per Callahan.
Since Sow has been sidelined due to an ankle injury, veteran offensive lineman Michael Jordan has started at left guard for the first three games of the season.
Lastly, Mayo provided an update on veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, who has been on the PUP list because of a torn ACL he suffered last season.
The first-year head coach said Bourne is “making great progress,” which is good news as he can be eligible to start practicing after Week 4. Before tearing his ACL last season, Bourne had 37 receptions (55 targets) for 406 yards and four touchdowns in eight games.
