3 Patriots Who Almost Ruined Tank Opportunity in Week 12
3. Demario Douglas
Patriots QBs being pretty much dismal meant a terrible day for the passing game. However, wide receiver Demario Douglas did all he could to help out his lackluster gunslingers.
Douglas definitely lived up to his "Pop" nickname on Sunday, as he brought some spark to the offense with his playmaking. The rookie sixth-round pick was a threat will the ball in his hands all day, racking up a team-high 49 yards on six receptions. His nine targets led this squad as well, showing he was being looked at by whoever was under center.
Sadly, Douglas' afternoon came to an abrupt end after a scary punt return attempt. The rookie was essentially clotheslined while returning the ball early in the fourth quarter, which caused him to leave the contest. The Patriots quickly called Douglas doubtful to return with a head injury, and he was unable to reenter the game.
With a head issue involved, the team will certainly do what's best for the wideout, including holding him out if he's not ready to play. That would only diminish the Pats' passing attack even further, leaving one less actual playmaker to move the chains.
