Patriots Already Re-Sign Recently Cut Playmaker
The New England Patriots have been constantly shuffling things around this offseason. They are making an effort to find different ways to add talent to this roster with Jerod Mayo seeking to change the narrative around New England.
We are inching closer and closer to the start of the regular season. Teams are looking for different ways to improve the roster and the Pats brought back a playmaker who was recently let go.
Patriots News: Deshaun Fenwick Re-Signs With New England
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Patriots re-signed running back Deshaun Fenwick. He joined New England as an undrafted free agent back in May before he was released earlier this month.
Now the Pats have decided to bring back the young tailback into camp. Fenwick is a strong and physical runner who is at his best when he's attacking downhill.
When he was given more opportunities with Oregon State last season, he finished with 515 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and 5.4 yards per carry.
Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson are the only two locks at running back for New England. Bringing back Fenwick highlights how the coaching staff thinks he can potentially stick onto the roster.
Nothing is guaranteed as the 24-year-old still needs to play well in practice and in the preseason but the ball is now in his court.
New England has been doing some roster construction lately, as they released Juju Smith-Schuster on Aug. 9 after just one season together.
The next preseason game goes down on Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles. That's where Fenwick will likely make his Patriot debut.
