The New England Patriots told the fanbase they would be aggressive this offseason in improving the roster. They retained key guys like Mike Onwenu, Kyle Dugger, Hunter Henry, and Kendrick Bourne.

Other than resigning their own guys, they didn't make any big-time signings and the only other addition they made to the WR corp was adding K.J. Osborn on a one-year, $4 million deal.

The Pats were heavily pursuing WR Calvin Ridley but he ended up signing with the Tennessee Titans, inking a four-year, $92 million deal.

The Patriots still need to address WR massively as they will likely select a QB with the third overall pick. One of the best ways you can surround your rookie QB is by giving him a legit No. 1 threat.

There is a top target who is very unhappy with his current team and he could become a serious trade target. Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers is looking for an extension but talks haven't materialized the way he would have hoped for. Aiyuk decided to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, adding fuel to the trade rumors.

Aiyuk was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has developed into one of the most explosive playmakers in the league.

In four seasons, the 26-year-old has logged 269 receptions for 3,931 receiving yards, and 25 touchdowns.

In 2023, Aiyuk notched 75 receptions (105 targets) with a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

He's now looking to cash in but talks with the 49ers haven't progressed much and the Pats should monitor this situation closely.

New England currently has the cap space ($53 million) and the draft capital needed to execute a deal. Aiyuk would immediately become the focal point of the Pats' aerial attack.

As we get deeper into the offseason, it seems more likely that Aiyuk will be on the trade block, especially with the draft taking place later this month.

With free agency cooling down, New England needs to ace their remaining moves to improve their odds for the 2024 season.
