With the NFL Trade Deadline coming up tomorrow, the New England Patriots are officially open for business. They're now 2-6 after losing to the Miami Dolphins yesterday, positioning them as clear sellers ahead of the deadline.

Despite their generally weak roster, the Patriots still have some attractive pieces like Kyle Dugger, Mike Gesicki, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Ezekiel Elliott and others that could entice contenders to make a trade.

The real question is what would New England want in return for those guys? On Sunday, the team's asking price for its top trade chips was revealed.

Patriots Trade Rumors

According to Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal, the Patriots are reportedly seeking at least a third-round pick in exchange for one of its top players.

Bill Belichick has set his price, but will anyone be willing to meet it? It's a considerable ask for a rental who may not be a real difference-maker down the stretch, especially for a complementary player like Elliott or Gesicki.

It's understandable that Belichick wants to get some real assets in return, but he may be overvaluing his players a bit. Asking for a high draft pick reduces the likelihood that those names will be moved, making it more likely that the Patriots are stuck with them on a sinking ship.

Time will tell if Belichick lowers his asking price as Tuesday's deadline approaches. If he's willing to take a fourth- or fifth-round pick instead, he might have more luck pulling off some trades.

Belichick has already botched a number of major decisions this year, however, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him do the same at the deadline.

Regardless of whether New England cashes in at the deadline, sports bettors can cash in at DraftKings Sportsbook. New users who sign up and bet $5 will instantly get $200 in bonus bets guaranteed, regardless of whether their first wager wins or loses. This offer is only here for a limited time, though, so don't miss out!
