Patriots Must Draft One of These Three Cornerbacks

The New England Patriots should add another depth piece to their cornerback rotation. Targeting one of these names in the NFL Draft makes a ton of sense.

Decamerion Richardson - Late Round Pick

The Mississippi State defender is the only cornerback to have an official top-30 visit with the New England Patriots. The fact that he is a lower-level prospect who could potentially go undrafted could signal the Patriots' lack of desire to target a cornerback with their earlier picks.

Decamerion Richardson would be a low-risk, high-reward type of flyer in the sixth or seventh round of the draft for the Patriots. As a two-year starter with the Bulldogs, Richardson amassed 10 passes defended and 93 solo tackles.

Rather than his statistical profile, Richardson stands out with his measurables. He showcased his physical and athletic tools at the NFL Combine when he ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash. At 6'2 and great length, he has the frame to be a prototypical, modern backfield defender. He has an intriguing physical profile that could be worth bringing in for the Patriots to see if they can develop him into a rotational piece going forward.

Considering that the Patriots don't desperately need a cornerback, drafting one with a later-round pick makes a ton of sense.

Regardless of what selections the Patriots make in the draft, they will begin the season as significant underdogs. They are currently +2800 underdogs according to Caesars Sportsbook to win the AFC East next season.
