After making Drake Maye their highest draft pick in over three decades, the New England Patriots have put pen to paper on a deal with the quarterback that they hope will be the cornerstone of their franchise for years to come.

Maye, who was selected third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, takes the next step towards what the Patriots and their fans hope is a long career in Foxborough. The terms of Maye's deal were not immediately made available.

The Patriots have previously agreed to terms with three of their eight 2024 draft picks on May 10, when they signed sixth and seventh rounders Marcellas Dial, Joe Milton, and Jaheim Bell. Javon Baker, a fourth-round receiver, was signed on May 24. This leaves second-round receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, third-round lineman Caedan Wallace, and fourth-round lineman Layden Robinson as the remaining draft picks that Eliot Wolf and co. are working to officially add to the roster.

Maye's projected contract was $6.7 million salary with a $23.5 signing bonus. He would receive a four-year contract with a team option for a fifth season. The Patriots are hoping that Maye's progression will make it an easy decision to pick up that option.
