The New England Patriots are still making small changes to their 90-man roster before this weekend’s preseason finale against the Washington Commanders.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots were awarded wide receiver Matt Landers off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. To make room for Landers on the roster, New England placed wide receiver JaQuae Jackson on injured reserve.

The Patriots signed Jackson to the 90-man roster in June after he was released by the Atlanta Falcons, who picked him up as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old Landers spent the last three months with the Cleveland Browns, who signed him after a stint in the UFL in the spring. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver had two receptions for 12 yards in two preseason games with the Browns.

Before he signed with the Browns in May, Landers was in the UFL with the Arlington Renegades and San Antonio Brahmas but didn’t play in a single game.

Landers went undrafted following the 2023 NFL Draft but was signed by the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks kept the 6-foot-4 wideout on their practice squad until Sept. 2023. After being released by Seattle, Landers joined the Carolina Panthers practice squad, where he stayed until Dec. 2023.

Finally, Landers played his college ball at Georgia Tech, Toledo, and Arkansas. He will try to make a strong impression on the coaches in practice and potentially the last preseason game to get a spot on New England’s practice squad.
