The New England Patriots are 1-3 and clearly aren't going anywhere this season. That is completely fine as many Pats fans knew this would be a developmental season.

With the trade deadline one month away, the Patriots will turn their attention to moving on from players in exchange for draft capital.

The Washington Post's Jason La Canfora revealed the first name on the trade block in Foxborough. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, who is off to another disappointing start, is now reportedly available.

"The New England Patriots have let it be known that Tyquan Thornton is available."

This shouldn't come as a surprise for Patriots fans. Thornton has consistently disappointed since he was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Not only is he injury-prone, missing a total of 12 games in his first two NFL seasons, but he is also not effective when he is on the field.

At this point, Thornton had plenty of chances with the Patriots. He finished 2023 with 13 catches and 91 yards with no touchdowns in nine games. This year, he is off to a similarly underwhelming start despite playing over 40% of offensive snaps, putting up two catches in five targets for 27 yards.

Thornton's size, speed, and athleticism have always been intriguing. His physical and athletic tools helped him get drafted high out of Baylor. Yet, he hasn't been able to adapt to the NFL game.

One of the biggest reasons is his inability to track the ball. His catch percentage of 50.7 highlights the severity of that issue.

Nonetheless, the Patriots wanting to move on from Thornton is certainly understandable. It's hard to imagine him generating much interest in the trade market. If he doesn't draw any trade offers by the deadline, he may very well be released by the Patriots.
