Patriots News: New England Checking in on Some High-Profile Veterans

The Chargers are $25 million over the salary cap and are looking to get under before the new league year begins on Mar. 13 at 4 p.m. ET.

They are taking calls on WRs Mike Williams and Keenan Allen along with edge rushes Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. All four players have big cap numbers for the 2024 campaign but for the right price, New England could be ready to pounce.

Williams is due $17 million, Allen is due $18.1 million, Mack is due $17.55 million, and Bosa is due $17 million. Additionally, they all have roster bonuses that range from $3-$7 million.

These playmakers and defenders would certainly make the Patriots a better team. Williams is coming off a torn ACL but has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt.

Allen will be turning 32 years old in April but is still a potent playmaker. Last season, he reeled in 108 receptions for 1,243 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

Mack is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. The University at Buffalo product compiled a career-high 17 sacks with five forced fumbles in 2023. Meanwhile, Bosa has been slapped with injuries over the past two seasons but can be disruptive when he's on the field.

Who knows if the Patriots will even acquire one of these players but they have kicked the tires on these high-marquee veterans.

They need to ace this offseason to improve their odds for the 2024 campaign. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Patriots are +2000 underdogs to win the AFC East. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
