The New England Patriots were one of the teams in the NFL with an abundance of cap space heading into free agency. They used some of those funds to make an addition to the offensive side.

According to Dianna Russini of the Athletic, the Patriots are expected to sign former Commanders running back Antonio Gibson.

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson is slated to be in Foxborough in 2024 but they needed to bolster the backfield with Ezekiel Elliot being an unrestricted free agent.

That is where Gibson comes into play. The 25-year-old is a dual-threat weapon coming out of the backfield. Gibson owns a combination of burst, vision, and power.

In his four-year career, Gibson has recorded 2,643 rushing yards, 1,283 receiving yards, and 29 total touchdowns. His best year came in 2021, when he logged 1,037 rushing yards, 294 receiving yards, and 10 total touchdowns.

A pairing of Gibson and Stevenson in the backfield is solid but this is only the start.

They need to ace this offseason to improve their odds for the 2024 campaign. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Patriots are +2000 underdogs to win the AFC East. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
