With a quarter of the MLB season under wraps, the Boston Red Sox are 25-24 despite being hammered with some major injuries already.

Craig Breslow told the fanbase he would be 'aggressive' in improving the roster and the latest report reveals the Red Sox were in competition with some AL East teams for the services a 28-year-old.

Red Sox: Boston Tried To Sign Amed Rosario Before He Joined the Tampa Bay Rays

The Boston Red Sox are in the midst of a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. This gave Rob Bradford of WEEI the chance to speak with Tampa's Amed Rosario.

Rosario revealed that both the Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays were looking to sign him this offseason but instead, he joined the Tampa Bay Rays on a one-year, $1.5 million deal.

Rosario has the ability to play multiple positions while being a solid hitter against left-handed pitchers. This season, he has a batting average of .294 with two home runs and 20 RBI. He's had two-plus hits in 14 different games this season for the Rays.

Even though the Red Sox didn't sign him, they still have to deal with him in the division. In 31 career games versus Boston, Rosario is batting .244 with 31 hits, one home run, 16 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.

It's interesting to see that Rosario had the interest of three teams within the AL East but decided to steer clear of Boston.

The addition of Rosario could have certainly helped the Red Sox but this wasn't a move that was going to drastically change the trajectory of the season.
