4- Flipping off the Crowd

Meeting for the second straight season in the First Round of the NBA Playoffs, the relationship between Irving and Celtics fans only continued to go south. In Game 1, Irving flipped the bird to the Garden faithful after a made three and would also break out the move again later in the game. The NBA fined him $50,000 for his actions.

Afterwards, he explained that he had every intention of matching the animosity raining down from the Celtics fans by returning animosity of his own:

"Look, where I'm from, I'm used to all these antics and people being close nearby. It's nothing new when I come into this building what it's going to be like - but it's the same energy they have for me, I'm going to have the same energy for them."

Boston would sweep the Nets on their way to an NBA Finals appearance, in which they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games. Kyrie would request a trade from Brooklyn following the season and ended up with the Dallas Mavericks, paving the way for the NBA Finals matchup that has Celtics fans ready to welcome him back to the Garden.
