3 Trade Targets the Patriots Must Avoid at the Deadline
By Tyler Maher
3. Davante Adams
Circling back to the Raiders, their star receiver Davante Adams has expressed unhappiness with his current situation there and seemingly wants out.
Adams has an amazing track record and would certainly excite the fan base, but he's starting to look like a player who's past his prime. He turns 31 in December and his numbers have already taken a major hit this season, especially in the last month or so.
The six-time Pro Bowler is still seeing a lot of volume as the No. 1 wideout in Las Vegas, but it isn't translating to as much production this year. He's only averaging 11.5 yards per catch, which is the second-lowest total of his career.
Adams used to be a touchdown machine, leading the NFL in receiving TDs in two of the past three seasons. He only has 3 touchdown catches so far this season, however, and none since Week 3.
In fact, Adams has been pretty quiet by his standards lately. In the month of October, he's averaging just 5.3 catches and 51.5 receiving yards per game with no touchdowns.
That's solid production, but more in line with a WR2 or WR3 than a WR1. Accordingly, Adams may not be worth what the Patriots would need to give up to get him.
