Veteran Signing Thrilled to be Back With the Patriots
By Cem Yolbulan
With the New England Patriots having entered a new era without Bill Belichick, there will be a lot of new faces in Foxborough. It will be a long rebuild under new head coach Jerod Mayo but the first-time coach will have help from a familiar face who is making his return to New England.
Jacoby Brissett, who was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, has signed with the team again, this time as a veteran mentor to the incoming rookie quarterback.
And he couldn't be happier.
Patriots News: Jacoby Brissett is Thrilled to be Back in New England
Brissett was the third quarterback selected in the 2016 NFL Draft. He showed a lot of promise initially behind Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo, resulting in the Indianapolis Colts trading for him after his rookie season to make him a full-time starter. His career didn't quite turn out like his optimists hoped for but he turned himself into one of the most sought-after backup signal-callers in the league.
"It’s exciting. I got drafted here eight years ago. To walk around the building and see a lot of things that look familiar, I’m excited to be back. It’s a different role. I think I was 22 or 23 when I was here before. I’m 31 now. I’m excited for a good opportunity. Ready to get this thing going."

Not only will his familiarity with the organization be helpful for the Patriots, but also Brissett's prior relationship with new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, with whom he worked in Cleveland, should prove very valuable for this young New England team. It's nice to see that he is excited to get to work already.
