The long wait is over and the NFL season is finally here. Patriots fans are riding high after the exhilarating road win over the Bengals on Sunday. However, not everyone's season is off to such a positive start. One of those names is the former Patriots cornerback Jack Jones.

Now with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jones took on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Late in the fourth quarter, the first big fight of the football season broke out in the end zone and Jones was one of the main actors of the scrum.

Chargers WR Josh Palmer ran to help rookie receiver Ladd McConkey block Raiders safety Marcus Epps. Jones ran after Palmer and the two got involved in a fight that spread to multiple individual battles in the end zone. Eventually, both Jones and Palmer were ejected from the game.

What sparked the fight is still unknown. Palmer claimed that the Raiders, including Jones, were throwing punches the entire game, so he had to defend himself. He added that the Raiders got frustrated because of how aggressively the Chargers receivers blocked.

Since Jones wasn't available for comment after the game, we weren't able to hear his side of the story but this was certainly not the start to the season he had in mind. The Raiders ended up losing the game, 22-10.

Jones was a fourth-round pick by the Patriots in the 2022 NFL Draft. He had a very promising start to his NFL career as he was one of the most impressive defensive rookies in the first half of the season. Then injuries and discipline issues hit. He was eventually benched and given a reduced role in his second season before getting waived in November 2023.

He was later claimed off waivers by the Raiders and had a solid finish to the year. In his third season in the league, Jones is now trying to leave past some of the off-field issues that have plagued him in the past and establish himself as a solid NFL starter.
