The New England Patriots fell short in Super Bowl 60 against the Seattle Seahawks, but the future is bright for this group. They were able to showcase what they are capable of under Mike Vrabel, yet there are still areas where this team can stand to improve.
Wide receiver is still at the top of the list, and the idea of getting Philadelphia Eagles WR AJ Brown would be a dream for this organization. There were rumors that he wanted out, and they haven't slowed down either. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler was a guest on "Get Up" on Thursday, and reported that several high-level executives expect the Eagles to listen to offers on Brown.
And with that still being a talking point, the Patriots would be wise to call Philadelphia to offer their 2026 second and third-round picks in return for Brown.
Patriots Should Call Eagles About AJ Brown Trade
The Pats have Stefon Diggs in the room, but they could still use more playmakers on the outside. Brown would give this offense a true No. 1, who would make life for everyone on the offense, especially quarterback Drake Maye.
When the Titans traded Brown back in 2023, Vrabel was upset with the move, saying, "Nobody wanted to have (Brown) walk out of (Tennessee). It didn't work out. It's disappointing."
Vrabel expressed in April 2022 that he didn't want to trade Brown, who was seeking a new deal but lost that battle to Jon Robinson. That was the end of the Titans, as the franchise fired Vrabel after trading Brown.
Fast forward to 2026, and there's a chance these men reunite, as they've kept in touch over the past few years. Brown is a physical receiver who has taken over games on several occasions. Over the last four seasons with the Eagles, he has secured 339 catches for 5,034 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns. He has gone over 1,000 receiving yards in every season since 2022, while earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods.
Brown is still on the books until the 2029 season, making at least $22 million a year. The Patriots have more than enough to take on that deal, with New England entering the offseason with $41 million in salary cap space.
New England's defense was magnificent during this postseason run, showing how elite they can be. It's clear the offensive side of the ball still needs some pieces, and there's not much better than Brown.
With rumors that the Eagles will field calls for him gaining steam, the Patriots would be wise to see what it would take to get the deal done.
