The Boston Red Sox will have plenty of new faces in their 2025 lineup, including Garrett Crochet. The 25-year-old left-handed pitcher was acquired from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for four prospects in December and is expected to be a key part of the Red Sox's rotation going forward.

As excited as Red Sox fans are to see Crochet on the mound, many are wondering about his long-term future in Boston. The former 2020 first-rounder is only under team control through the 2026 campaign, meaning it might not be long before Crochet and management begin discussing an extension.

Fortunately, it sounds like the Ocean Springs, MS native is committed to remaining in Beantown.

Red Sox News: Garrett Crochet Wants to Stay in Boston

Crochet recently sat down with the "Section 10 Podcast" to discuss the MLB offseason, including his arrival in Boston and what's to come next. During the interview, the All-Star southpaw made it clear he sees himself sticking with the Red Sox for the foreseeable future.

"As soon as I was traded over here, I want this to be a place where I could just run myself into the ground like just no regards for the rest of my career," Crochet said. "I want to give everything I have into this season... I want to leave it out on the field every time I make a start."

When it comes to a potential extension, Crochet admitted any deal must "work out for both sides." Having said that, he's excited to get the ball rolling eventually in that regard.

"I look forward to having those (extension) conversations," he added.

Red Sox fans certainly wouldn't complain if Crochet signed a lengthy extension with the franchise — especially if he performs as advertised. The reigning AL Comeback Player of the Year was one of the White Sox's few bright spots last season, having pitched to a 3.58 ERA and 1.068 WHIP while averaging 12.9 strikeouts per nine innings in his first year as a starter.

Fortunately, Crochet's tenure started on the right foot in spring training. He made his Red Sox exhibition debut against the Toronto Blue Jays on Feb. 23, striking out four batters without allowing a run on three hits across 1 2/3 innings.

As spring training continues, the future looks bright for both Crochet and Boston. Not only are the Red Sox currently tied for the seventh-best 2025 World Series odds (+2000) on FanDuel Sportsbook, but Crochet also holds the second-best American League Cy Young odds (+400).
