Whether it happens now or at the end of the season, Chad Tracy is proving that he deserves to be the Boston Red Sox' full-time manager.
The Red Sox have mostly been incredible since Tracy took over as the team's interim manager. They are 50-34 since he has taken over, and they have remained one of the top pitching teams in the majors and have become a phenomenal offensive team as well.
There probably isn't a reason to rush it since there's still so much baseball left, but the Red Sox have been the hottest team in baseball for about a month and a half. That's a big enough sample size to think their turnaround might be real, and Tracy's presence is a big reason for that.
He deserves to become the team's full-time manager.
The Red Sox won't have a better option than Chad Tracy
It's not like there are a lot of options for Boston if it chooses not to name Tracy as its full-time manager. Plus, he has years of experience in the Red Sox' organization, having spent the last five years as the manager of the team's Triple-A affiliate in Worcester and managing players like Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Wilyer Abreu (and Kristian Campbell, if he ever gets the call again).
This Red Sox team has found its stride ever since Tracy took over, and it's only fair to him, the team, and the fanbase for him to see things through.
As it stands, the Red Sox are emerging as real title contenders, and Tracy is a big part of that. They have turned into a much more aggressive base-running team under him, and they are finding ways to score regularly without fully relying on home runs. Pair that with their pitching staff, which has been one of the best in the majors all season long, and Boston is turning into a real threat.
If the Red Sox opted to not give him the full-time manager role, the Illinois native would be one of the hottest candidates on the market, and that's not something the team should risk. Tracy has proven that he is a fantastic manager in Boston, and he has helped raise the team's ceiling.
The Red Sox have already reached heights nobody expected them to, and there's no telling what the future holds in store for them. Tracy has been fanatstic as the team's interim manager, and at this rate, the team will have no choice but to make him their full-time manager.
