This is arguably one of the most anticipated upcoming seasons for the Patriots since the dynasty days. From hiring Mike Vrabel, signing some big-name free agents, and drafting eleven players in the draft, the Patriots have emphasized building a talented supporting cast around Drake Maye.

The team looks a lot better on paper, but that’s not saying much because the Patriots were horrible last year. The offense gave Maye no help last year, as the team gave up 52 sacks and ranked 30th in points (17) and last in passing yards (176.2). The defense was no better, ranking last in sacks (28) and 30th in takeaways (12).

With OTAs underway, we’ve got to see two new additions, who hope to help improve both sides, go at it with one another.

Will Campbell and Milton Williams Square Off

There’s nothing more you’d want than to see your top pick go at it with some of the best in the league. Will Campbell and Milton Williams battling it out in OTAs is a great sight to see.

Campbell will be tasked with the most grueling job in football, protecting the blindside of the quarterback. Coming into the draft, Campbell was regarded as the best lineman in the draft, and he’s going to have a difficult task to help improve an offensive line that allowed Patriots quarterbacks to take brutal hits last season.

Along with Keion White and Christian Barmore, the Patriots have brought in Milton Williams and Harold Landry III to bolster their pass rush. This allows Campbell to refine his skills by going up against some great players. Campbell will be going up against Maxx Crosby, T.J. Watt, and Myles Garrett this season, so Campbell must get these reps against Milton Williams

For Campbell, Williams is the perfect player to go up against. Per Pro Football Focus, Williams earned a 90.4 pass rush grade, which ranks him second among defensive interior players. Williams made a name for himself in the Super Bowl, recording two sacks and a forced fumble in the Philadelphia Eagles' win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

For Patriots fans, it’s exciting to see your two new additions battling it out and putting in the work to improve. Hopefully, these battles can translate to success when the season starts in less than four months.
