Signed out of Venezuela during the 2019 season, Jhostynxon Garcia’s journey through the Boston Red Sox farm system has been anything but linear. Between the pandemic and his initial struggles at the pro level, it wasn’t until 2024 when Garcia began to make his mark.

Last season, Jhostynxon hit .286 with 23 home runs and 17 steals while being promoted from Single-A to Double-A. His combination of speed and power put his name on the radar as a rising star in the Red Sox organization.

Jhostynxon Garcia’s Stock Continues to Rise

This season, Garcia has taken another step forward. The 22-year-old outfielder will be the lone Red Sox prospect at this month’s MLB Futures Game, a showcase of the league’s most promising young talent. Ranked the team’s 5th-best prospect by MLB Pipeline, Garcia’s stock continues to rise as he proves that last season was no fluke.

Splitting time between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, Garcia has been nothing short of electric. Through 66 games, Garcia has a .275 batting average with 12 home runs, 10 doubles, and 40 RBIs. Although his stolen bases are down (just 4 this season compared to 17 last season), his instincts and athleticism suggest there’s plenty of base-stealing potential.

According to MLB Pipeline, Garcia is best known for his arm (graded 60/80) and his power (graded 55/80). His early profile draws comparisons to Hunter Pence, a former All-Star outfielder known for his arm strength, power potential, and high-energy play. Pence spent 16 seasons in the major leagues and had 7 seasons of 20+ home runs.

If Garcia continues to progress at this rate, he could find himself patrolling the Fenway Park outfield in short order. For Red Sox fans eagerly watching the next generation take shape, Jhostynxon Garcia represents both promise and potential, and he’s just getting started.
