The Boston Red Sox have been preparing for an important 2025 campaign. This organization has missed the postseason for three straight seasons and is seeking to change that.
They added Garrett Crochet, Walker Buehler, Aroldis Chapman, and Justin Wilson to bolster their pitching in 2025. Boston also added Alex Bregman to the fold.
The Red Sox are down in Fort Myers, Florida for spring training as they prepare for the new season. Some drama around the team already started with the Red Sox when Rafael Devers said he has no interest in hitting DH and wants to play third baseman.
That is interesting considering that Bregman just won the 2024 Gold Glove Award at third base with the Houston Astros.
With that being a major talking point around the team, first baseman Triston Casas continued to add to the fire when he expressed what he thinks Boston should do.
He believes that Devers should play third base and Bregman should move over to second base.
Triston Casas says he wants Devers to play 3B and Bregman to play 2B.

Asked if he thinks the group of Campbell, Anthony and Mayer should make the Opening Day roster, he said “no” because of the veterans Boston has in the mix.
Triston Casas’ Latest Comments Could Stir the Pot
Casas then said, "I think we’ve got some grown men up there right now that need to iron some things out. We need to show up and see what that first little taste of us altogether looks like. I think their time is going to come. And it could be earlier rather than later. But I think for right now the roster is beautiful. It’s organized great. And it’s structured really well."
The 25-year-old makes a great point that things need to be discussed and fixed before the season rolls around. Going into the season with extra drama is a recipe for disaster and the Red Sox could be heading down that path if conversations aren't had.
Regardless, it's clear what Casas prefers and that's Devers sticking at third while Bregman kicks over to second base.
Devers' comments show he isn't willing to make sacrifices for the team and is worried about himself. That isn't ideal for a team looking to get back into the postseason.
Thankfully, Opening Day isn't until March 27 against the Texas Rangers so the Red Sox have time to find a solution to this problem but Casas' comments could have brought more problems than any type of answer.
