The Boston Red Sox are in the midst of an active offseason. After spending the first few months of the offseason building out the rotation and the bullpen, the Red Sox finally made their big free agency splash when they signed Alex Bregman to a three-year, $120 million deal.

While Bregman is the impact right-handed bat the Red Sox have been looking for, he also brings fascinating questions for Alex Cora. Where the Gold Glove winner will play for the Red Sox remains an interesting storyline, with many suggesting that he would move to the second base. If Bregman were to take over at third base, Rafael Devers would move to first, making Triston Casas a potential trade candidate.

What the future holds for Casas has been an important talking point in Boston. After being one of the best rookies in the AL in 2023, Casas had an injury-riddled 2024 campaign before finishing strong. Thanks to his age and upside, Casas has long been rumored to be a potential trade chip.

Triston Casas Wants to Remain in Boston "Forever"

Amid all this speculation, Casas remains steadfast in his desire to be in Boston long-term. In his latest remarks per WEEI, the 26-year-old said he wants to be there "a long time".

The Red Sox and Casas did not agree on a contract extension last offseason. He will be heading into his first year of arbitration eligibility after the 2025 campaign.

It sounds like a contract extension isn't happening anytime soon. Where the extension negotiations are headed will depend on the type of season he puts together in Boston. His role and position after the Alex Bregman move will certainly be a huge factor in his production.
