New England Patriots fans are used to seeing the New York Jets franchise. They have become a poster child for how bad luck and poor decision making can set back an organization in a major way.

While this particular predicament is no fault of the Jets, it does place New York in a less than desirable position coming out of the NFL Draft as the team's quarterback room has taken a hit. After the team invested a fifth-round pick in him in the 2024 NFL Draft, former Florida State Seminoles standout quarterback Jordan Travis has announced that he is retiring from the NFL.

For those who may not remember, Travis was the signal-caller for a Seminoles team that looked ready to make a run at the College Football Playoff title before the team's hopes and Travis' career forever.

The Nov. 18 date referenced in the letter from Travis is when he suffered a brutal lower leg injury in the first quarter of his team's win over North Alabama. He finished his career at Florida State with a record of 28-10 as a starter.

Patriots fans never want to see an injury cut short the career of any player, regardless of who they play for. As much as fans in New England may enjoy seeing their AFC East division rivals struggle, these are the moments where football fans come together to feel for the impacted athlete. Here's hoping that Travis is able to find the level of fulfillment elsewhere in life that the game of football provided him.

For the rest of the Patriots, their sole focus continues to prepare for the 2025 campaign as new head coach Mike Vrabel looks to return New England to the heights they enjoyed during his playing career.
