After much scrutiny about his decision making process in 2010 when he signed with the Heat, LeBron James took a more low-key approach to announce where he would be playing basketball. Instead of holding ESPN and the rest of the sports world hostage for what seemed like weeks, LeBron chose to write a first person entry to Sport Illustrated explaining why he decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his expose to Sports Illustrated LeBron explained how tough the decision was to leave Miami, “I looked at other teams, but I wasn’t going to leave Miami for anywhere except Cleveland. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy.” LeBron went on to sign a 2 year contract with the Cavs worth just under 43 million dollars, with the goal of resigning in 2016 when the NBA’s TV rights deal is expected to explode. For now, Dan Gilbert and the hometown Cavalier fans are happy to have their ‘King’ back home and with the addition of Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving they are looking at a chance to go back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2007.
