Patriots Gridiron News 10/5: Belichick Discusses Browns, Brady Ready to Go
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick returns to the place where he started his NFL head-coaching career. But, it is just business as usual as the team prepares for the Cleveland Browns.
Bill Belichick started his head-coaching career with the Cleveland Browns, but during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI, it was all about football in preparation for the Patriots Week 5 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
"“Right now, the most important thing to me is our football team and getting back on track, and playing and coaching more the way this team has performed in the past, getting our performance level collectively back up to a much higher point than it was [Sunday]” said Belichick. “It wouldn’t really make any difference who, where or when the next game was. That’s the main priority for me right now. The rest of it is what it is.”"

The Patriots will look to get back in the win column following a 16-0 embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills. Despite coming into the game winless, Belichick knows the Browns can be dangerous, especially on the offensive side of the ball. He lauded running back Isaiah Crowell and converted receiver Terrelle Pryor.
Belichick also recognizes the problem rookie quarterback Cody Kessler could present. During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, He said:
"“Kessler does a good job of moving around in the pocket. They run some bootlegs with him. I’m not saying he’s the runner that [Robert] Griffin was, but he’s athletic back there. He’s a hard guy to crowd. He does a good job of getting out of trouble. They’re a very explosive team. They can make big plays in the running game, big plays on the deep balls and big plays on the catch-and-run plays.”"
Brady is ready: According to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Tom Brady is ready to go. Actually, he is more than ready. Expect for the Patriots offense to change dramatically with Brady under center. Not only will the Patriots be able to utilize all their weapons, the fast pace offense will more than likely return.
The only factor McDaniels and the coaching staff worried about was preparation, but everything is flowing smoothly in that area as well.
"“It’s going to be as normal as it could be,” said McDaniels via WEEI. “I think the biggest thing is to just go through our preparation as we normally do to prepare for the opponent and prepare for what our game plan is and how we want to execute it and go out there and use our opportunities on the practice field to execute and to get back into playing football and being with his teammates and running our offense and doing the things we ask the quarterback to do here.”"
Patriots work out two: According to a league source, the Patriots had receivers B.J. Daniels and Shaq Evans in for tryouts on Monday.
Daniels is a former college quarterback out of South Florida. At 5-foot-11, 217 pounds, Daniels was taken in the seventh round of the 2013 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He has only played eight games in the NFL and did drop back for two passes in his brief career.
Evans is former fourth-round draft pick by the New York Jets. A taller receiver, Evans has yet to catch a pass in the NFL mainly do to an injury that led to him being cut from the Jets roster.
